The Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says that all PIA pilots want to leave the organization.

According to the media reports, a meeting was held with Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee Aviation, Hidayatullah, in the chair in which the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority while talking about the issues of Pakistan International Airlines said that about 35 to 40 percent tax has been imposed on the salaries of the pilots. Flying hours have also been taxed.

The Director General further stated that most of the time you hear about cancellation of flights, it is because of the pilots.

PIA officials told the meeting that 141 pilots had license issues, out of which 69 were cleared. DG Civil Aviation said that action is also being taken against those giving wrong licenses. He said that actually none of the licenses were fake, former Minister Sarwar Khan had said this on the floor of the Assembly.

Senator Sherry Rehman asked whether the issues of banning PIA etc had arisen after this statement, to which the DG CAA replied that yes it is so, most of the problems were caused due to this.

Senator Mohsin Aziz questioned whether PIA would ever turn profitable in our lifetime, to which Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PIA replied that we are in operational profit. Mohsin Aziz said that don’t talk about operational, talk about all, where does the loss of billions come from every year?
