Asad Umar directs to complete Rashakai Special Economic Zone

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar has directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of their respective task regarding Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) being constructed under China Pakistan Economic Corridor within stipulated timeframe.

According to media reports, the Planning Minister Asad Umar has issued these directives while chairing a meeting to review the progress on the development of Rashakai Special Economic Zone in Islamabad on Saturday.

During the meeting, it was apprised about the progress of work at SEZ, especially regarding supply of gas and electricity to the Zone. The meeting was informed that 10MW electricity is available for Rashakai Special Economic Zone while the transmission line for another 160 MW is under construction and will be completed by November this year.

It was also informed that the first Unit, a Steel Plant at the Zone is under construction and in the first phase, an investment of 79 million dollars will be made to produce 500,000 tons of Construction steel.

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives also directed the Planning Division to carry out monitoring of the various activities related to the SEZs.
