Pakistan will host the first major global cricket tournament after 29 years in 2025 and that will be the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025.

According to details, the announcement has been made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a statement on social networking website Twitter on Tuesday.

The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja has also reacted to the ICC’s announcement and said that it was a matter of great pride and delight that the country would host the major ICC tournament. He said that this great news will surely excite millions of Pakistani fans, expats and world fans to see great teams and players in action and will allow the world to sample our hospitality.

The International Cricket Board further revealed that the subsequent Champion Trophy edition in 2029 will be hosted by India.

It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan has hosted the Men’s Cricket World Cup in 1996 alongside India and Sri Lanka. The final was played in Lahore with Sri Lanka claiming the title.

In 2009, the ICC Champions Tropyhy was also scheduled to be played in Pakistan in 2009 but it was moved to England due to security reasons.
