The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shibli Faraz has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and his party want transparent elections to strengthen democracy in the country.

According to media reports, the Information Minister has made these remarks while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday, along with Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and Ali Zafar.

The Information Minister further stated that it is unfortunate that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and People’s Party (PPP) nurtured the politics of money and corruption in Pakistan, which adversely affected morality of the nation.

“Recent Senate elections have vindicated our stance that horse-trading is undertaken in the polling process,” he added.

On the occasion, the Technology Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that Prime Minister and his entire party fully respect all the state institutions, including the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He said ECP should have demonstrated its independence and impartiality through acts instead of issuing press releases.

“It is joint responsibility of the government and the ECP to evolve a mechanism to ensure transparency in the polling process. Transparency in elections is the pillar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s policy,” he said.

Fawad Chaudhry further added that 177 members of National Assembly belonging to PTI and allied parties have reached Islamabad and hopefully 179 MNA will repose their trust in the leadership of Prime Minister.
