Guru Nanak Birth Anniversary: The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued more than 3,000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to attend the celebrations for Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary at Nankana Sahib.
According to the media reports, the festivities of Guru Nanak birth anniversary are scheduled to take place from November 14 to 23. In response to concerns regarding visa denials, the Pakistan High Commission clarified that these visas allow Sikh pilgrims to participate in the commemorative events.

Saad Ahmad Warraich, Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires, sent his best wishes to the pilgrims on their journey. The Nehru-Liaquat Pact, signed in 1950, allows roughly 3,000 Sikh pilgrims to visit sacred places in Pakistan at four significant anniversaries each year, including Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President, Harjinder Singh Dhami, expressed unhappiness over the denial of 65% of the SGPC’s visa applications. Only 763 of the 2,244 applications were approved, sparking calls for both administrations to fix the issue.
