The President of Haiti Jovenel Moise was assassinated at his home during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The news has been revealed by the Haitian Prime Minister Claude Joseph in a press release. He said that the Haitian President Jovenel Moise residence was attacked at around 1am on Wednesday by a group of unidentified individuals, some of whom spoke in Spanish.

The Haitian Prime Minister further stated that President Jovenel Moise was killed in the attack, while his wife Martine Moise was also shot and injured and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
PM Claude Joseph has condemned the assassin’s odious, inhuman and barbaric act. He called on country people to be calm and claimed that all measures are currently being taken to guarantee the continuity of the state and protect the nation.
“Democracy and the Republic will win,” he added.
