Hajj 2024 News: Govt launches Hajj App & utilizing all resources to provide best facilities to pilgrims

Hajj 2024 News: The Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Syed Ata-ur-Rehman said that the Federal government is utilizing all available resources to provide the best facilities to pilgrims under the Government Hajj Scheme during Hajj this year.

According to the media reports, the Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Syed Ata-ur-Rehman made these remarks regarding Hajj 2024 while addressing a news conference in Islamabad today (Monday, April 29). He said that sixty-nine thousand pilgrims would perform Hajj this year under the Government Hajj Scheme.

The Secretary further stated that the government has also slashed one hundred thousand rupees in Hajj expenditure this year while the airlines have also been asked to reduce their ticket fair. He said the Sponsored Hajj Scheme introduced this year would also be improved.

Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman expounded on the specifics of the latest measures implemented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to aid Hajj pilgrims, mentioning that this year’s government has also launched a 20- to 25-day Short Hajj. However, because of the airline routes, its costs would be a little more. According to him, the government has also introduced the Hajj App using contemporary technology, and this App has been the means of communication for all planned pilgrims.  He explained that to prevent any complexity, the pilgrims would need to download this app to their iPhones.

The Hajj Secretary announced the introduction of pre-installed SIM cards, which pilgrims will get before their journey to Saudi Arabia. He said that the SIM will also assist in resolving the problem with phone calls made over WhatsApp. To facilitate easy identification and prevent needless suffering, the government has also taken the step to provide pilgrims with bags that are the same size and color. This is the first time that a thorough system has been used to select Hajj Assistants (Moavineen), guaranteeing merit and openness.  He mentioned that an application has also been created to track these Hajj Assistants’ performance.
