IDEAS 2024 – Defense exhibition – begins in Karachi

IDEAS 2024 – the 12th edition of the defense exhibition and seminar – began at the Expo Center Karachi today (Tuesday, November 19).

According to the media reports, the inaugural ceremony of IDEAS 2024 was addressed by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. He emphasized the integration of the public and private sectors to enhance the efficiency and volume of defense production and exports. He said Pakistan offers enormous opportunities for profitable investments, joint ventures, and trade in all sectors including defense. 

Minister Khawaja Asif stated that Pakistani defense products compete in the worldwide market. He noted that, while we sell some high-tech defense products to over 60 nations, the volume of exports falls short of its true potential.  He stated that the 12th edition of IDEAS, which will include start-ups, Pakistan’s best engineering and technology institutes, as well as defense specialists and manufacturers from across the world, will be a watershed moment in the development of Pakistan’s military industry.

Khawaja Asif stated that a defense ecosystem is being developed using the IDEAS platform to unite academia, industry, and the public-private sectors in defense manufacturing. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a business-friendly environment for human capital investment and industry professionals.

Speaking about the geostrategic environment, the Defence Minister stated that today’s increasingly complex security environment requires increased cooperation and engagement at the regional and extra-regional levels to solve the multiple difficulties it presents. He advocated for the appropriate use of new technology to address geostrategic concerns and make the world a better and safer place.

Regarding South Asia’s geostrategic shift, the Minister stated that regional cooperation and active engagement are critical to achieving regional peace, security, and socioeconomic growth. He stated that Pakistan believes in meaningful, equal-opportunity dialogue to resolve bilateral disputes and achieve regional peace and harmony.

The IDEAS 2024 has been organized to present a diverse spectrum of new and conventional military technology, weapon systems, and vehicles. Global defense specialists are highly interested in the IDEAS 2024 exhibition. The Special Investment Facilitation Council’s aims include defense production and exports.
