Police have arrested two suspects who have been declared as hired killers in connection with the murder of Maulana Sufi Qayyum in Gulistan e Johar area of ​​Karachi.

According to the details, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Karachi East Muqadas Haider held a press conference in the office of SSP East regarding the action on Saturday. He said that the murder of Maulana Sufi Qayyum is an indication of the plot dispute. Hired assassins were used to kill Maulana.

DIG East Muqadas Haider said that the main shooter of the incident, Ali Akbar, has been carrying out target killings for political and religious parties before. Mufti Abdul Qayyum was killed in Gulistan Johar. Both the arrested alleged target killers killed Maulana Abdul Qayyum and escaped.

“This is not a religious or communal target killing, both the accused have confessed to killing Maulana and that the incident was done over a land dispute,” DIG said, adding that Ali Akbar was the main shooter, the other is Tanveer, the accused killed a political opponent in 2013.

It is pertinent to mention here Maulana Abdul Qayyum Sufi, a member of the Pakistan Ulema Association, was killed by armed suspects in block 9 of Gulistan e Johar area of ​​Karachi.

According to the police, the victim was going home after prayers when two people riding a motorcycle targeted him.
