North Korea reports first Covid19 case, imposes emergency lockdown

North Korea has reported the first ever Covid19 case and the country has imposed an emergency lockdown after confirming the spread of Coronavirus.

According to North Korean state media reports, Korean President Kim Jong Un has imposed an emergency lockdown on the country after the first case of the Covid19 was reported in North Korea.

The report said that the samples taken from patients with fever in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, have been found to contain a sub-variant of the coronavirus Omicron. However, the number of Coronavirus cases are not disclosed in the report.

It is pertinent to mention here that since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, the North Korean government has imposed strict border restrictions and has not yet confirmed any Covid19 cases in the country.
