Omicron cases increased: Asad urges masses to get fully vaccinated

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Specail Initiatives, Asad Umar has warned that the cases of Omicron variant has witnessed an increase in Pakistan.

According to media reports, the Planning Minister has expressed his views while briefing the media at National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) in Islamabad on Wednesday. He urged the people to fully vaccinate themselves against COVID-19 to reduce the risk of the spread of new variant Omicron.

In his remarks, Asad Umar has said that the Covid-19 cases increased to 1.8 percent yesterday after remaining 0.7 percent for several weeks. He said the people should continue to observe SOPs and avoid visiting crowded places.

On the occasion, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr. Faisal Sultan clarified that the current anti-Covid vaccines provide protection to the people against severe disease from the new variant.

Dr. Faisal Sultan stressed the vaccination is important to save our healthcare system from pressure.
