Peace and stability in Afghanistan is a shared responsibility of the international community, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said, adding that Pakistan has played its role in this respect.

According to media reports, the Foreign Minister has expressed these views while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday. He urged the international community and the regional countries to play their due role to facilitate peace and stability in Afghanistan.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister has said that Pakistan facilitated the Afghan Peace Process with utmost sincerity. He said Pakistan is a facilitator and not the guarantor of peace in Afghanistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi further stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan has always said that there is no military solution to the situation in Afghanistan. He said a negotiated, inclusive and broad-based political settlement is the only way forward to establish peace in Afghanistan.

The Minister has said that Pakistan fully rejects the baseless accusations made by the Afghan Representative in United Nations Security Council. He urged the Afghan government to refrain from blaming Pakistan for failures of others.

“I have invited Afghan Foreign Minister to visit Islamabad to and discuss and resolve issues if any on the dialogue table,” he added.
