Pakistan made film production income tax-free to promote industry

The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government of Pakistan has made film production and cinemas income tax-free to promote the film industry in the country.

According to the media reports, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb made these remarks regarding the film production of Pakistan while addressing the Icon Awards 2023 ceremony in Karachi today (Monday, August 7).

On this occasion, the Information Minister of Pakistan has said that the government has constituted a Film Finance Committee and established two billion rupees Film Finance Fund for a year to facilitate filmmakers. She said that PTV academy has been revived while a plan has been chalked out to make Radio Pakistan self-sufficient.

Marriyum Aurangzeb further stated that twelve live broadcast studios have been developed and cinemas have also been established at Radio Pakistan, Lahore, and Islamabad. She said Radio Pakistan’s archives have been digitized and a talent hunt program is being initiated to introduce new voices from all parts of the country. Radio Pakistan’s Awaaz Khazana App has been established and will be launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif this week, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb added.
