The Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan and Tajikistan have immense potential to expand multi-faceted bilateral cooperation, including trade.

According to media reports, the Foreign Minister has made these remarks while talking to the visiting Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his high level dignitary in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister has said that Pakistan is determined to enhance bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan in diverse fields, including education, housing, infrastructure development, technology and energy. He said it is welcoming that the leadership of both the countries has been endeavoring to further strengthen the bilateral ties.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi further stated that the timely completion of the important projects like CASA-1000 will help establish energy corridor between South Asia and Central Asia.

The Federal Minister has apprised the President Emomali Rahmon about Pakistan’s reconciliatory efforts and its fruits in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan will continue its efforts for regional peace and stability.

“Pakistan believes that durable peace in Afghanistan is inevitable for progress and prosperity of the region,” he added.

FM Qureshi also commended the efforts of Tajikistan for peace in Afghanistan.

In his remarks, President Emomali Rahmon has thanked the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and the Pakistani leadership for the warm welcome and hospitality.
