Pakistan values Japan role in global, regional affairs: COAS

The Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan values Japan’s role in global and regional affairs and we look forward to enhance our bilateral relationship.

According to media reports, the Army Chief has expressed these views while talking to Japanese Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro, who called on him in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

During the meeting, General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stressed upon the urgency for swiftly devising an institutionalised mechanism for channeling humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in order to avert a looming humanitarian catastrophe. He underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.

The Army Chief further stated that peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute is essential for stability in South Asia. He said Pakistan wants cordial ties with all its neighbours in pursuit of regional peace and prosperity.

In his remarks, the Japanese Ambassador has lauded Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, special efforts for regional stability. He pledged to play his part for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation Pakistan and Japan at all levels.

Both sides have also discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, current situation in Afghanistan especially collaboration and partnership in Humanitarian assistance.
