Pakistani Singer Arooj Aftab creates history and wins first ever Grammy Award

The Brooklyn-based Pakistani singer Arooj Aftab has made the history and becomes the first Pakistani to win the Grammy Award.

According to details, Arooj Aftab has bagged the Grammy award for her song “Muhabbat” in the Best Global Performance category. Apart from that she was also nominated for the Best New Artist category.

While expressing her feelings on the stage at the 64th Grammy awards, the Pakistani singer said, “I feel like this category in of itself has been insane… it should this be called yacht party category. I made [this record] about everything that broke me and put me back together. Thank you for listening to it and making it yours.”

Arooj Aftab, who works mainly in the minimalist, jazz and neo-Sufi idioms, has attracted massive applause with her captivating music and different singing styles in the world. She gained recognition after former US president Barack Obama included the track ‘Mohabbat’ on his 2021 summer favorites list.

The Brooklyn-based Pakistani singer is also a music producer and composer who got her training from the Berklee College of Music.
