The Pakistani music composer and vocalist, Arooj Aftab has been nominated for the 64th Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced.

According to the announced nominations for each of the 86 categories, Jon Batiste leads all nominees with 11. H.E.R, Doja Cat and Justin Bieber have eight each, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are tied with seven nominations.

The Pakistani singer has been nominated in two categories, Best Global Performance and Best New Artist. She took to Instagram account on Wednesday and shared her feeling with her fans.

She wrote, “2X GRAMMY NOMS, I was screaming at the tv on BEST GLOBAL PERFORMANCE … and then BEST NEW ARTIST brought me to tears man. @recordingacademy this is a moment for me for sure. I have loved being a silhouette, just making music that feels honest and personal, with people around me who get it. Real cosmic magic happens when we start living our absolute truth, no matter the odds. This recognition feels so good, I don’t even know what else to say. THANK YOU and god bless. The contenders in both categories are fierce, but let’s bring these gold gramophones home!!”

Arooj Aftab,, who works mainly in the minimalist, jazz and neo-Sufi idioms, has attracted massive applause with her captivating music and different singing styles in the world,. She succeeded to earn the nod for 2022 GRAMMY Awards.

It is to be mentioned here that the Grammy Awards are voted on by the Recording Academy’s voting membership body of around 12,000 music makers. All of them represent all genres and creative disciplines.

The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on Monday January 31.
