PIA resumes direct flights to Iran after 5 years to boost tourism

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed direct flights to Iran after a five-year gap to develop people-to-people contacts and boost tourism industry.

According to IRNA, the PIA Spokesperson Abdullah Khan has said that the first PIA flight departed from Lahore to Mashhad on Wednesday night.

Spokesperson Abdullah Khan further stated that direct flights from Karachi to Mashhad will begin on Saturday.

The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Ali Hosseini has said in a statement on social networking website Twitter that Pakistan and Iran have agreed to promote air cooperation.
