Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif – the Prime Minister of Pakistan – has directed to constitute a high-level committee for consultation over matters related to the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project.
According to the media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his views regarding the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project while addressing the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet in Muzaffarabad today (Thursday, May 16).
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the committee comprising senior officials from federal and AJK governments will finalize the short, mid, and long-term plans within the next two weeks. He directed the officials concerned to immediate and earliest possible completion of the bridge at Mangla Phase II, so no chaotic elements can ever misuse and exploit this little incomplete portion of the bridge for their sordid political gains.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the federal and AJK governments will hold discussions soon after the IMF team leaves the country to finally settle the pending issues so no such incident as the recent protest in AJK arises again. He expressed condolences over the death of civilians and police personnel during the protests and announced a package for the heirs of Shuhada.
The Premier further stated that the funds worth 23 billion rupees announced by the federal government for Azad Kashmir have been transferred into the AJK government account. He said the development and prosperity of Pakistan are directly linked with the prosperity of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan will keep providing the people of IIOJK with moral, political, and diplomatic support, according to Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan regards the people of IIOJK in the highest regard. He stated that the day when the people of Palestine and IIOJK receive their unalienable rights is not far off.
