PTI Islamabad March: Govt calls Pak-Army for red zone security

The Interior Ministry has deployed the army for the security of the red zone amid the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) towards Islamabad. The army will be deployed at the Prime Minister’s House, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Presidency and the Supreme Court.

According to media reports, all the security of the red zone in Islamabad will be handed over to the army. The army will be deployed on all sensitive government buildings in the red zone.

The reports further stated that section 144 has been enforced in the federal capital Islamabad for two months while its scope has been extended up to one kilometer of the red zone. A notification for implementation of section 144 has also been issued in Islamabad.

Apart from the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister’s Office, Presidency, Supreme Court and other government buildings including the Cabinet Division, troops will also be deployed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the government has decided to stop the PTI long march towards Islamabad. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that such tactics are tantamount to destroying the economy.
