Russian Speaker Valentina Matviyenko has said that Russia will enhance bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in diverse fields including trade, investment and diplomacy.
According to the media reports, Speaker of the Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko made these remarks during her meeting with Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani in Islamabad today (Monday, 28 October). The issues related to promotion of diplomatic, economic, commercial and parliamentary relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said Russian Speaker Valentina Matviyenko’s visit will give a new boost to ties between both countries and will promote regional peace, development and prosperity. He appreciated Russia’s support to Pakistan for improvements in infrastructural development and oil and gas sectors of Pakistan.
Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani further stated that promotion of parliamentary relations is need of the hour and a Pak-Russia friendship group has already been formed in the Senate of Pakistan. He underscored the need to find new opportunities to promote investment in various sectors, including further increasing the current trade volume between the two countries. Pakistan is committed to promote communications for regional peace, he added.
In her remarks, Russian Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said Russia highly values its relations with Pakistan. She said promotion of parliamentary relations will not only augment trade and investment between the two countries, but also help bring the two peoples closer.
