Sartaj Aziz – the former Finance Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader – has passed away today (Wednesday, December 03).

According to the media reports, Sartaj Aziz held senior positions at the Ministry of Finance and the Planning Commission, shaping economic policies that steered Pakistan through crucial eras.

In their separate messages, President Dr Arif Alvi, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, and Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the former finance minister. President Dr. Arif Alvi extended condolences to his family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said in his message that Sartaj was an extremely intelligent and seasoned politician. He said the late Sartaj was an active worker of the Pakistan Movement and a significant asset to the nation. He added that the services of the late Sartaj for Pakistan will always be remembered.

Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said that the late Sartaj was a political stalwart and an economist, who played a crucial role in the progress of Pakistan. He said Sartaj Aziz’s services for the resolution of the country’s economic issues are unforgettable.
