Tanishaa Mukerji defends actors and blames directors for prolonged shooting

Tanishaa Mukerji – the Indian actress known for her roles in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi cinema – has recently weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the unrealistic demands actors make on sets, defending their stance.

According to the Indian media reports, Actress Tanishaa Mukerji addressed the current debate around actors’ extravagant demands for personal chefs and vanity vans, which drive up the expense of making movies. She recently blamed corporate corporations for the irrational demands of performers, which included multiple vanity vans and personal chefs.

During an interview, the actress said, “Let’s imagine a producer approaches an actor and offers to pay them Rs 5 crore to work on a film. However, when these large corporations step in and offer to compensate an individual producer Rs 30 crore in exchange for 30 days, how can a producer on their own compete with a production house?”

Tanishaa shared her opinion that performers shouldn’t put undue pressure on indie producers. She said that it is unfair for producers and directors to say that performers have tantrums. She emphasized that before criticizing an actor’s requirements, it’s important to take into account the amount of time they spend on set.

The actress used Akshay Kumar’s work schedule as an example to highlight the differences in conditions. She asked whether the actor they are working with follows the same 9–5 schedule as Akshay Kumar. She questioned the idea of classifying actors as having tantrums without taking into account their willingness to put in long days on the set. Before condemning the requests of actors for amenities like personal chefs and gyms in their vanity vans, she recommended deeper consideration of these considerations. She reasoned that with their hectic shooting schedules, they need these conveniences to be healthy and active.
