Treason case registered against Nawaz Sharif, other PML-N leaders

A case of treason has been registered against former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in Shahdara police station over provocative speeches.

According to media reports, the treason case against Nawaz Sharif has been registered on Monday. The names of the party’s vice president Maryam Nawaz and other senior leaders including Ayaz Sadiq, Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Asif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Rana Sanaullah, and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra have also been included in the case.

The first investigation report (FIR) stated that Nawaz Sharif is a convict and the law of Pakistan doesn’t allow him to carry out such kinds of speeches.

The Information Minister of Punjab, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan said that all PML-N leaders who have been nominated in treason cases should be arrested by police. He said that Punjab Police has rightly filed a case against PML-N leaders including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Police should form teams for the immediate arrest of all the accused.
