Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail – the newly appointed governor of Balochistan – was born on December 26, 1956, in Quetta. He did his matriculation from St Francis Grammar School and masters from Balochistan University.
According to the details, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail entered into politics in 1974 through student politics and was also the president of MSF.In 1988, he ran for a provincial seat in Zhob on the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid’s (PML-Q) ticket for the first time. In addition, he was the minister of finance from 1993 to 1996, the minister of education from 1990 to 1993, and the minister of home affairs from 1997 to 1999. Mandokhail ran and won the 2002 election on the PML-Q ticket. In addition, he was given responsibility for three departments—the Board of Revenue, Excise, and Transport—after winning the 2013 elections.

On the PML-N ticket, Jaffar Mandokhail ran for office in 2018, but Mitha Khan of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) beat him. He ran for office in his Zhob constituency in the 2024 elections on the PML-N ticket, but a Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate beat him.
It is to be mentioned here that the PMLN politician took the oath as the new governor of Balochistan in a ceremony at the Governor House today (Monday, May 6). The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by outgoing Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar and provincial Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. Moreover, provincial ministers, assembly members, political figures, and other officials also participated in the swearing-in ceremony of Mandokhail.
