Afghanistan Cricket Board appoints Younis Khan, Umar Gul as consultants

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) appointed former Pakistan cricket team players Younis Khan and Umar Gul as batting and bowling consultants respectively for their training camp in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to details, the ACB has made the announcement in a statement on social networking website Twitter. ACB wrote, “Younis Khan and Umar Gul Named as our National Team’s Coaching Consultants for the UAE Tour.”

The CEO of ACB, Naseeb Khan said, “Younis Khan and Omar Gul have rich experience of international cricket and I am sure they will help our boys overcome the concerns they have got in the batting and bowling departments.

However, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has also appointed former England batsman Graham Thorpe as their head coach on Tuesday, replacing South African Lance Klusener

It is to be mentioned here that the former captain of Pakistan Cricket Team Younis Khan retired from international cricket in 2017 and later took up coaching, working briefly as the batting coach of Pakistan. While Umar Gul retired in 2020 before taking up a bowling coach role with Pakistan Super League (PSL).
