Govt announces Rs.1250 billion relief package to save population from negative effects of pandemic: Hafeez

The government announced rupees twelve hundred and fifty billion relief package to ensure cash transfers to people in order to save vulnerable population from the negative effects of the Covid19 pandemic, the Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said.

According to media reports, the Adviser has made these remarks while speaking at Financial Pakistan Expo in Islamabad.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that Pakistan is one of a few governments of the world that effectively managed the COVID-19 pandemic and saved people from its negative effects.

The Adviser further stated that the government took many initiatives to facilitate businessmen.

“Government took two important decisions, one to collect taxes from wealthy and support poor and second to reduce expenditures by cutting expenses of President House, Prime Minister House, cabinet, army and civil government,” he added.
