NATO demanded the immediate release of US journalist Evan Gershkovich, who has been detained in Russia on suspicion of spying.
According to the media reports, the demand of releasing US journalist Evan Gershkovich has been made the NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg while speaking at a news conference in Brussels today (Tuesday, April 4).
The Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg expressed concern over the arrest and underlined the importance of freedom of the press, the rights of journalists, and the right to ask questions.

According to the media, American journalist Gershkovich was recently arrested on suspicion of alleged espionage in Russia. The Federal Security Service (FSB) claimed on Thursday, March 30, that the journalist was detained for attempting to obtain state secrets. He was a Moscow-based Wall Street Journal correspondent.
According to Wikipedia, Gershkovich is an American journalist and reporter at The Wall Street Journal covering Russia. He was born in 1991. He graduated from Princeton High School, where he captained the soccer team, in 2010. At Bowdoin College, he majored in philosophy and English, wrote for The Bowdoin Orient and The Bowdoin Review, and DJ’d for WBOR, the campus radio station. He graduated in 2014. He worked for The New York Times from 2016 to 2017, The Moscow Times from 2017 to 2020, and Agence France Presse from 2020 to 2022 before moving to the Wall Street Journal in January 2022.
