Paris places restrictions on pro-Palestinian rallies out of fear

The law enforcement authorities of Paris have placed restrictions on pro-Palestinian demonstrations planned this weekend because last week a similar rally led to clashes with police.

According to media reports, Association France-Palestine Solidarity plans to hold a rally on the Place de la Republique square in downtown Paris on Saturday. While the Association of Palestinians in Ile-de-France is planned on Sunday.

The police chief of Paris, Didier Lallement has announced that both demonstrations will be restricted to static gatherings on Place de la Republique. He said that the two routes that were announced for these demonstrations are prohibited, but gatherings will be allowed on Place de la Republique.

Didier Lallement further stated that the decision to limit the display of support for Palestinians was made due to the risk of the disturbance of public order.

It is to be mentioned here that the escalation of Hamas-Israeli violence has killed at least 227 people in Gaza and 12 in Israel.
