The Foreign Minister Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud has said that the establishment of Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council is an important milestone to take the bilateral relationships between the two countries to new levels and explore new opportunities of cooperation.

According to media reports, the Saudi Foreign Minister has expressed these views while addressing a joint news conference along with Shah Mahmood Qureshi after a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday. Both the countries have agreed to further improve their economic linkages and expand their bilateral relations in new areas during the meeting.

Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud further stated that both the countries will encourage their business community to interact more frequently to further strengthen the economic relations. He said that both the countries enjoy strong bonds and this fraternal relationship goes beyond many decades.

“Saudi Arabia values the contributions made by Pakistani community in the economy of the Kingdom,” he said, adding that during talks today, we discussed more opportunities for Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia.

Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to continue to work together including on Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan and Yemen to facilitate regional peace and stability.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the talks primarily focused on promoting bilateral trade and investment. He said that the two sides have made a good progress towards the activation of Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council and there will be focal persons in both the countries to oversee progress on this front.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister further stated that there are immense opportunities for Saudi Arabia for investment in Special Economic Zones under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said our skilled, semi-skilled workforce and professionals can also make significant contributions to the Saudi vision 2030.

“Pakistan looks forward to expand relations with Saudi Arabia in the areas of culture, information, media, entertainment and sports,” he said.

FM Qureshi also thanked the Kingdom for supporting Pakistan in the FATF. He said Saudi Arabia is also part of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.

“Saudi has been supportive and has shown clarity in supporting Pakistan on the disputed territory,” he added.
