Senator Farooq Naek elected as Member of IPU’s Committee

Senator Farooq Naek has been elected unopposed as a Member of Inter-Parliamentary Union Standing Committee on Human Rights and Democracy on Sunday.

According to the media reports, the election took place during a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group of Inter-Parliamentary Union in Bahrain’s capital Manama on Sunday, March 12.

Addressing the meeting of Parliamentarians from the Asia-Pacific Group Member countries, Senator Farooq Naek has expressed his gratitude to them for supporting his candidacy. The Senator assured that he would represent the Asia-Pacific Group effectively.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has congratulated Senator Naek on being elected as member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Standing Committee on Human Rights and Democracy.

Expressing confidence in Senator Naek’s abilities, the Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said he is a highly respected lawyer and Parliamentarian of Pakistan, who has unwavering commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights and democracy.

It is to be noted here that the Inter-Parliamentary Union is a global organization of National Parliaments based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to promoting peace through parliamentary diplomacy and dialogue. It currently has 178 members and 14 Associate Members.
