A Chinese solar company AIKO has signed an agreement with the government of Punjab to set up a solar panel manufacturing and assembly plant in the province.
According to the media reports, this is the result of the support and efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council that AIKO will set up a solar panel manufacturing and assembly plant in Punjab.

The deal was signed by Alex Heng, the South Pacific Region President of AIKO, a Chinese corporation, and Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, the Minister of Industries and Commerce for Punjab. Speaking at the event, the province minister emphasized that AIKO’s solar panel plant will support both exports and the local market.
Numerous additional international businesses have expressed interest in making investments in Punjab’s solar energy sector, according to Chaudhry Shafay Hussain. He noted that to convert 7,000 tube wells to solar energy, the provincial administration also intended to work with energy businesses. The Punjabi government also intends to give low-income households solar panels.
