After almost 600 days, the government of Australia has reopened its borders for dully vaccinated on Monday, allowing many families to reunite after months apart and prompting emotional scenes at airports in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to media reports, Australia has granted permission to its fully vaccinated citizens from November 1 to travel abroad freely without a special permit or the need to quarantine on arrival. The international flights from Los Angeles and Singapore were first to land in Sydney on Monday morning.

The passengers arrived from Los Angeles and Singapore have said that their journey was a little bit scary and exciting. They described the final feeling of being able to return home after all this time as surreal. The passengers hugged and cried tears of joy as they reunited with their loved ones after the long break.

The airline industry group BARA has said that around 1500 passengers were expected to fly into Sydney and Melbourne during the first day of eased restrictions.

It is to be mentioned here that Australia had come up with one of the toughest responses to the novel coronavirus pandemic, shutting down its international borders 18 months ago.
