On the demand of the political parties and to facilitate the candidates, the Election Commission of Pakistan extended the date for filing of nomination papers for the next general elections for two more days.

According to the details, the Election Commission of Pakistan said in the amended schedule issued today (Friday, December 22) that scrutiny of the nomination papers, beginning on Monday will continue till the 30th of this month.

Appeals against nomination papers accepted or rejected may be filed by the third of the following month; the decision will be made by the tenth of January. The updated list of candidates will be released by the Election Commission on January 11; however, candidates have until January 12 to withdraw their candidacies.

Electoral symbols will be allotted on the 13th of January, and general elections will take place on the 8th of February.
