Education Minister demands ECP to resign as it fails to held transparent elections

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood has demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to immediately resign as it has failed to fulfill its responsibilities in holding transparent elections in the country.

According to media reports, the Education Minister has made the remarks while addressing a joint news conference, along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, and Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry in Islamabad on Monday.

On the occasion, Shahfqat Mahmood has said that the Election Commission has lost confidence of all the political parties. He said the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, and all its members should resign to provide an opportunity to the parliament to constitute a new and credible Commission, which can ensure transparency and check corrupt practices in the polling process.

The Federal Minister also condemned attack on the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers.
