First case of Indian Covid19 variant detected in Sindh

The Health Minister of Sindh, Dr Azra Pechuho has said the the first case of the so-called Indian Covid19 variant has been detected in the province.

Talking to a private news channel on Friday, the Provincial Health Minister has said that the South African variant of coronavirus is also spreading rapidly in Karachi. She said that one case of the Indian variant and seven cases of the South African coronavirus variant have been detected in Sindh so far.

Dr Azra Pechuho further stated that serological research was carried out on 57 samples which revealed that out of the total, the South African and British variants comprised 71% and 20% cases in Karachi, respectively.

The Provincial Health Minister has said that most of the cases had been reported in children below the age of 2 years. She urged that parents should get themselves inoculated as soon as possible so that they do not contract the virus from their children.
