Govt announces local holiday on Saturday, Monday in Islamabad due to OIC-CFMs

The Federal Minister for Interior, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has announced that Saturday and Monday will be a public holiday in Islamabad due to security arrangements for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial conference being held in the federal capital.

According to media reports, the Interior Minister has made the announcement while talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Friday. He said that the decision has been by the Federal government to ensure foolproof security for the conference.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed further stated that the cabinet division will separately notify about the Monday off for secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Hamza Shafqaat has said in a statement on Twitter that there will be local holiday in Islamabad for schools and private offices on Saturday and Monday. He said the hiking trails in Margalla will stay closed.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the metro stations from Pakistan Secretariat to Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat will also stay closed till Monday.
