Jalil Abbas Jilani – the former Pakistani Ambassador – is trending on social media as a caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.

According to the details, a former Pakistani diplomat Abdul Basit has claimed that Ambassador (R) Abbas Jilani has been named as the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan. He made the announcement in a statement on social networking website X.

Abdul Basit wrote, “Congratulations to Ambassador (R) Abbas Jilani on his appointment as caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. A proud moment for the Foreign Service of Pakistan.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the name of the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan is not announced officially yet. However, Abbas Jillani is trending on the internet as a caretaker Prime Minister. Some people are congratulating him while some of them are criticizing him on the internet.

The president will choose the caretaker prime minister after consulting with outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz, who are scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

According to the Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah, the name of former Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh is short-listed for caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. He said that the names of former Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh and a retired judge of the Supreme Court are also included in the shortlist for caretaker prime minister of Pakistan. However, the name of the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan is not announced yet.

Who is Jalil Abbas Jilani?

Abbas Jilani was Pakistan’s foreign secretary after serving as the country’s ambassador to various nations, including the United States. He is an Oxford University law graduate with an M.Sc in Defense and Strategic Studies. He served in the Pakistan Air Force think tank Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies after retiring.
