Pakistan is observing the 65th martyrdom anniversary of the national hero Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, today (Monday, August 7).
According to the media reports, Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed was born in Hoshiarpur city of the East Punjab, on 22nd July in 1914. He was assigned to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the area of Lakshmipur in August 1958.
On this day in 1958, Major Tufail Muhammad met fierce opposition from the enemy yet continued with his mission and accepted martyrdom. For his bravery and valor, he received Pakistan’s highest military honor, the Nishan-e-Haider.
