The newly-appointed Ambassador of Germany to China, Jan Hecker has passed away at the age of fifty four. He was a close ally and senior foreign policy adviser to Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The news has been announced by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany in a brief statement on its website on Monday. The statement read, “it is with deep sadness and dismay that we learned of the sudden death of the German Ambassador to China.”

The Foreign Office hasn’t released the circumstances surrounding the Ambassador’s abrupt death. They said, “Our thoughts at this moment are with his family and the people who were close to him.”
It is to be mentioned here that Jan Hecker was Germany’s 14th Ambassador to China and the country chose him to ensure the long-term and stable development of Germany-China relations… in the interests of the people of both countries.
