The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Capital Territory Ahsan Younis to ensure protection of journalists as it is the responsibility of the state.
This has been stated by the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Aurangzeb in a statement on Sunday. She said that she contacted IG Islamabad Ahsan Younis and conveyed that directions of PM Shehbaz Sharif.

Maryam Auranzeb has said that the constitution guarantees protection of basic rights of all citizens and freedom of expression. She also expressed solidarity with journalists and strongly condemned fascist and authoritarian attitudes against some journalists living in Islamabad.
Inspector General Islamabad Capital Territory Ahsan Younis has assured that the orders of PM Shehbaz Sharif will be strictly implemented. He said that he is personally monitoring the situation.
