Polling begins in second phase of KP LG elections

Polling has started for second phase of local government elections in eighteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

According to details, polling is being held in 18 districts in the second phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and strict security arrangements have been made in this regard.

The polling started at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm without any break. All election materials, ballot papers, polling bags and polling staff were delivered to their respective polling stations with full security on Wednesday.

In most districts of the second phase of local government elections, polling stations are located in mountainous and remote areas.

Local body elections are being held in 65 tehsils of 18 districts. A total of 6176 polling stations and 16509 polling booths have been set up. The polling started in Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Batgram, Turgar, Kohistan-e-Bala, Kohistan-e-Zir, Kolai-e-Pals, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Dir-e-Bala, Dir-e-Lower, Chitral Upper and Chitral Lower.

The number of union councils in these districts is 1,830. The total number of registered voters is more than 8.7 million while the number of male voters is 44 lac 89 thousand 771 while the number of female voters is 35 lac 67 thousand 703.
