NEECA MD Sardar Mohazzam said that the government of Pakistan has planned a massive awareness campaign about energy conservation in the country.

According to the media reports, the Managing Director of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority Dr. Sardar Mohazzam made these remarks while briefing media persons in Islamabad about key initiatives related to National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy today (Tuesday, July 18th).

On this occasion, the Managing Director of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority said that the campaign will be launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He said some 29 action points have been identified in major sectors, including energy, industry, building, transport, agriculture, and cross-sectoral, for achieving the goal of energy conservation and efficiency.

Speaking about the proposed Energy National Action Plan (ENAP), NEECA MD Sardar Mohazzam has said that it can help save 6.4 billion dollars annually. He said out of total annual imports of 80-82 billion dollars, the share of energy stands at around 27 billion dollars.  

It is pertinent to mention here that the National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) is an Authority established under the Ministry of Energy and serves as a federal focal agency mandated for initiating, catalyzing, and coordinating all Energy Conservation activities in different sectors of the economy. The authority to provide for the establishment of institutions and enunciation of mechanisms and procedures to provide for effective conservation and efficient use of energy.
