The development occurred as the PTI-backed independent candidates won the most seats in the National Assembly in the polls conducted on February 8; nevertheless, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has partnered with other political parties, including the PPP, to establish a coalition government in the Center. To protest suspected electoral manipulation, the PTI also intends to engage with opposing nationalist groups including Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami National Party, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl.

This happened two days after Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of the PPP, indicated that he would be open to having discussions with the PTI to further the nation’s process of reconciliation.

“It was our desire for not only the PTI but all political forces to be involved in the peace process, which is why we felt that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should have been engaged as well. To make Pakistan and its people prosperous, we wish to work together on the economic, defense, and other agenda items and to see Mian Sahib and other friends succeed.,” Asif Ali Zardari announced at a joint press of the six-party alliance on Tuesday.
