Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz shares vision for next five years


The newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has shared her vision for the next five years and desires to make Punjab an economic hub by empowering businessmen.

According to the media reports, Maryam Nawaz – the vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) – was elected as the first women Chief Minister of Punjab amid a boycott by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) of the Elections 2024.

Maryam, who promised to begin work today, stated that the measures needed to support small and medium-sized businesses and businessmen are necessary for the economy’s core. She hopes to empower company owners and turn Punjab into a major economic center by offering a one-stop shop for starting and managing enterprises. She said, “We will facilitate the business community so that they can attract investment in the province.”

The newly elected chief minister declared that she would not tolerate corruption. Regarding the approaching month of Ramadan, Maryam announced that her government would set up Ramadan Sasta Bazaars for the affected individuals by inflation around the province. A committee will control market prices to ensure that no good is sold for more than the set prices.

Maryam stated that the curriculum will be updated to reflect modern education to enhance the curriculum in the province’s schools. She added that public-private collaborations would help the province’s schools. Regarding Punjab’s healthcare system, Maryam pledged to construct a sizable hospital with renal and cancer treatment centers in every district. She also declared that free medications would be available in public hospitals.

“Within 12 first weeks, we will launch Punjab’s first air ambulance service,” she promised, adding that she has directed 1122 to establish an organized fleet of ambulances for the motorways. She added that she would re-introduce Nawaz Sharif’s health card effectively across the province.
