In a majority decision of 6-1, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has overturned parliamentarians’ lifetime disqualification under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.
According to the media reports, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s seven-member enlarged bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan swiftly declared its reserved verdict today (Monday, January 8).
All of the candidates who were disqualified under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution are now qualified to run for office. Judge Yahya Afridi disapproved of the majority ruling.
