Sheikh Rashid underlines need for fostering ties b/w Pakistan and Maldives

The Federal Minister for Interior, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has underlined the need for fostering ties between Pakistan and Maldives through improved diplomacy and cooperation in trade.

According to to media reports, the Interior Miniter has expressed his views while talking to High Commissioner of Maldives to Pakistan Farzana Zahir, who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and vowed to strengthen bilateral ties during the meeting.

On the occasion, he said a lot of scope for bilateral tourism and trade between both the countries prevails that needs to be enhanced through better diplomatic coordination and business partnership.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Pakistan has historical ties with Maldives based on mutual brotherhood and love. He said Maldives is a key member of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation and stressed the need to activate the forum for development of the region.

“Online visa facility has started luring foreign tourists towards Pakistan,” he added.

High Commissioner Farzana Zahir has said that the government of Pakistan should provide more opportunities and facilities to businesses community for increasing bilateral trade.
