Talks underway with a Chinese company for procurement of vaccine: Asad Umar

The government is promptly taking decisions to procure the Anti Covid19 vaccine, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said, adding that talks are being held with a Chinese company for the procurement of the vaccine.

According to media reports, the Planning Minister has stated these while briefing the media persons in Islamabad on Tuesday. He said initially the vaccine will be administered to the healthcare staff which will be followed by other people.

On the occasion, Asad Umar further stated that the government’s timely decisions and the responsibility demonstrated by the masses have greatly contributed to check the spread of the novel virus in the country.

The Federal Minister appealed the people to continue to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to avoid the devastation caused by the virus in the United States (US) and other western countries.

He has said that the government opted for a smart lockdown policy in the wake of first wave of the novel Covid19 to protect the lives and livelihoods. He said that the complete lockdown policy adopted by some of the regional countries added to their economies woes.

“The government’s handling of Covid-19 was appreciated by several world institutions including the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Economic Forum (WEF),” he added.
