Targeted subsidy to be given in next fiscal year: PM

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif has said providing relief and subsidy to the poor segments of the society is priority of the government.

According to details, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made these remarks while talking to Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister has said that the targeted subsidy will be given on flour, sugar, ghee/edible oil, pulses and rice in the next fiscal year. He said all relevant ministries must ensure that this subsidy reaches the deserving people.

PM Shehbaz Sharif has also directed the Shazia Marri to develop a comprehensive strategy in cooperation with the Ministries of Finance and Industries and Production for the targeted subsidy.

The Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety has apprised the Prime Minister of the progress on different projects being executed under Benazir Income Support Program.
