The United States (US) blogger Cynthia Ritchie has withdrew a petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against Senator Rehman Malik for allegedly raping her in 2011.

According to media reports, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted US blogger’s request to withdraw a petition on Thursday and Justice Amir Farooq dismissed Ritchie’s petition.

The former Interior Minister Rehman Malik also withdrew his petition for registration of a defamation case against Cynthia Ritchie.

The lawyer of Cynthia Ritchie, Imran Feroze Malik told Dawn.com that the petition had been withdrawn on the request of Ritchie herself. He said that we have withdrawn all the petitions based on multiple requests today.

Imran Feroze Malik further stated that Senator Malik had also withdrawn his petitions after reconciliation between the two.

It is to be mentioned here that in June last year, US Blogger Ritchie had come out with startling allegations of rape by Senator Rehman Malik and assault by other Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders in 2011.

Cynthia Ritchie said in a video released on Facebook, “In 2011, I was raped by Senator Rehman Malik. That’s right, I’ll say it again. I was raped by the then interior minister Rehman Malik.”
